I've gotten the Biological Clocks off the needles (though they need some fancy darning of live stitches tomorrow evening to actually be finished), so I'm starting mrshamill's summer socks, using the generic sock table from the Schachenmayr Nomotta Inspiration No. 41 booklet.

I cast on at the boundary of light green and dark brown, and will do two inches of 2x2 rib before I change to plain stockinette. Since these are summer socks, I won't make the leg too long -- four or five inches -- and I'll either a short-row or v-stitch heel.

They don't look like much right now, but half the fun of Regia sock yarn is seeing what it looks like as you go on.



I expect that they'll look much nicer once I get past the ribbing.

Yeah, pretty much. The first few rows of *anything* don't look like much. Tomorrow will be better.

Ahhhh, new socks. They are so fun. Although yeah, not terribly exciting until you get past the ribbing. :-D

The ribbing isn't bad, it's just that it obscures the pattern in the yarn.

See, I sort of both love and hate the ribbing part of a sock, knitting it I mean. But yeah, when working with striped yarns, it's definitely my least favorite bit--although when all is complete, I don't mind the overall look.
