As I was leaving work today, the purchasing manager said "You look like a rich man's wife!" when I got off the elevator.

... for the record, I was wearing a short-sleeved black shirt with white polka dots, a white linen-blend jacket with black polka dots, last year's wide-legged black linen pants, black bamboo socks, my Fluevog Ace Face shoes in Charcoal Alligator (mine are sort of mauve), and a Goorin Brother straw hat. My jewelry consisted of a leather bracelet made from an upcycled belt, a charoite and hematite necklace I made myself, a Kory Bing Hallucigenia pin, and a cheap Casio watch.

So I'm going to take it as a compliment, but seriously, what?

I got sent home by my boss because I looked so unwell at an afternoon meeting. I think (hope) I have a stomach bug and I just need some extra sleep.

My job told me I'm extended for another three months, so yay job!

So, just before lunchtime today, I got called into a meeting. When I saw that the HR director was there, I know instantly what was up. Ever since we lost one of our contracts I was expecting them to lay people off, and was looking for other positions inside the company, but no bites.

I've got 6 weeks of severance coming, as soon as I sign the paperwork. I'll start looking for a new job tomorrow, since I'm on the "don't come in, but we'll pay you like your working for the next two weeks" plan. I'll also have to sort out my medical insurance, which will be 'fun'.
