Went to the Saturday market --- got marscapone, squash blossoms, goat stew meat (for a tagine), yellow cherries, nectarines, tomatoes, sprig of rosemary, cob of popcorn, locally made mango salsa, and a mini quiche lorraine.

Now I'm looking for a source of culinary roses, for rose petal ice cream...

Oh, Jeni (of Jeni's fame) has a really fabulous ice-cream recipe book out now. Then again, that might not mean much to you, since you don't live in Ohio. But I assure you, Jeni's is awesome.

*nods* Good point. I think for her store stuff, she goes with straight-up eggs and cream for the most part, with few thickeners; but for this, she tested all the recipes on home ice-cream making equipment, and changed them so that home chefs could get the same textures as well as flavors. So there's ingredients in the recipes in the book (such as cream cheese, and apparently cornstarch) that aren't in her own stuff, if that makes sense. I'm surprised she didn't opt for tapioca, which I have occasionally seen on her ingredients labels, but maybe she thought cornstarch was more accessible for most cooks. Hmm.
