I spent a few hours this afternoon potting my tomatoes and eggplants.
Since I live in an apartment, I'm restricted to container gardening -- and something that's just frustrating.
This year, I've got five tomato plants, two eggplants, and several mints.

I'm hoping that the eggplants will do better this year in big pots. I've put them in the sunniest corner, and I'll have to check them twice a day during summer to see if they're getting enough water. Apparently, eggplants are even thirstier than tomatoes. I'm thinking of starting some carrots from seed by planting them in with the tomatoes (and maybe in with the eggplants too).

I'm trying the topsy-turvy containers again. Ive moved the stand a little for hopefully better sun, and started the plants much earlier. I'll see how well they do.

I've already got three kinds of mint -- peppermint and spearmint I bought, and one that self-started from last year's seeds, so it's either catnip or Kentucky colonel's mint -- and some generic basil. I'll be buying more herbs at the farmer's market tomorrow and fill up my hanging container again. I also have a ginger plant from when a bit of ginger-root sprout a leaf last year before I could use it in cooking, so I put in the long windonbox. I'll see about getting some mini-peppers to put in with it, but last year the neighborhood cats did a number on my mini-peppers for some reason.
Anyway, I had fun getting terribly mucky and needed another shower. I still have dirt, but I need at least one more big pot...
