my copy of Interweave Knits, Autumn 2009 arrived yesterday. I'm not thrilled with most of the projects, since there seem to be a lot of cropped-waists and shaping that is flattering to the smaller women. The Scoop Pullover, with its welted bust, is a particularly noticeable offender, from my perspective.

However, the cover sweater is really pretty, the Farmer's Market Cardigan has kangaroo pockets *and* darts, and the Every Way Wrap is reversible and can be a wrap, srhug, vest,or shawl-collared cardigan depending on how it is buttoned.

But the best pattern in my opinion is the Bandelier Socks -- I am really tempted to make them, especially since the pattern does have notes on how to lengthen them appropriately...

The French Braid and the Bandolier aren't too awful, either.

The French Braid pullover looks like it would be a bad sweater for me -- the hem sits at exactly the wrong place, and raglan sleeves are generally Not My Friends.

The Bandelier socks are very nifty, aren't they?

You can always change where a hem falls. I don't see raglan sleeves with braids on them being as much of an issue as plain ones; there's more definition there, and more verticality with the front braid as well. But the socks are marvelous.

Unless I'm very mistaken, the Every Way Wrap looks like a variation of something that was in Knitty a couple of issues back, with ribbon tying it together as well as buttons.

Hm, they were doing so well for a while with the flattering-for-larger-ladies patterns. I do like that cardigan, wow. I guess I'll pick up this issue after all. Oh, or was it Summer I'd actively passed on? Must've been. Yeah, that's a nice cardigan...
