Farmer's Market -- 14 July 12
Jul. 14th, 2012 03:58 pmApricots, golden raspberries, plums, an onion, an heirloom tomato, a piece of chocolate cayenne baklava, a pain au chocolate, a brioche sucree (both from Praline Bakery), and a small bag of worm castings. It's high summer and there is no way I can eat as much food as is available at the market.
I'm going to cut some of my swiss chard and make ravioli potage. And maybe try making creme fraiche again, not that I actually found a candy thermometer for sale -- it was surprisingly have to find something other than a meat thermometer. I also have my pork shoulder thawing, so I'm making either carnitas or Puerto Rican pork roast this afternoon -- I haven't decided which.
I talked to the guy at Compost Cab at the market today, but $32 a month seems fairly steep, especially considering that my electrical bill tripled (no longer living in a basement where I had a gas stove will do that, I suppose). I'm going to research composting bins instead, and look for one with a small footprint that I can tuck into an inconspicous spot near the entrance to my unit, hidden by the shrubbery, and use that. In the long run, I'm sure it will be more cost-effective.
Btw, anyone know what I need to do to get Semagic to give me back the option of putting tags into my posts when using it? Do I need to download an older version or just chose an option from an obscure menu?
